Ezra quotes

We've been reading "Brown Like Me", a book about an adopted little girl in a white family who goes around finding brown things like her. Ezra likes it.  And he has started finding brown things like him. He found a brown boy at church, and a big brown man as well.  To both he said, 'they're brown like me!' Then one day while having a family snuggle he said, 'mama, you're tan, I'm brown, and papa's red!'  Yup. That's pretty much it kiddo.

Tonight I reminded Ezra that even though I was leaving, God would still be with him in his room, so he wouldn't be alone.  I tucked him in and shut the door, walked to my room and heard in a very distinct Ezra voice, "God?"

Ezra had been breathing in a very labored way for about 8 hours.  We were getting nervous, so Michael took him to urgent care, where we found out he had bronchitis.  On the way, Ezra said to Michael, 'papa, thanks for taking me to the doctor.'

10 years - Colorado

Ezra stats

Today Ezra had his 3 year check up.  He sat very well and tolerated Dr. Pam's exam with many smiles and nods.  He is 38 inches tall and 36 pounds, which places him in the 75th % for height and 90 something % for weight.  But Dr. Pam felt his shoulders and back, and wasn't worried about his BMI. She was impressed with his vocabulary, and with how closely he pays attention to the words we say.  The only worrisome thing: the sucking of the fingers.  Apparently he is pushing out his front teeth, and badly. So for all the rest of the day he has been asking me, 'why can't I suck on my singers?'

MLK Day

My high for today:  We watched an abbreviated version of MLK's I have a dream speech.  At lunch, Elsie prayed this:
God, thank you for this day, and for our food, and thank you for Martin Luther King Jr's speech and for making it come true.  And thank you for Ezra. Amen.
