The end

It happened to rain at one point while we were walking to the Arch. And we just decided to get wet. And wet we were. But the puddles were fun and it was sunny when we came out. Here you see Elsie as she yelled, 'buffalo!' and a ride on a helicopter at Union Station. It was a good trip but we were very happy to see our house!

Stand by

A pilot friend was gracious enough to give us some buddy passes to get to STL. We flew standby. On the way to STL we caught the 2nd flight. On the way back to ATL, not so much. Our 10am flight was full, as was every other until 4:45pm. So, we made a day of it in STL. We rode the metro, visited the Arch, saw Union Station twice, and ran around the airport. All in all, it was a great day, considering Michael was carrying his laptop and CPAP and I had a purse and a diaper bag with 14 pounds of supplies in it (and no stroller). The kids had fun and we didn't kill each other, or them. We made it to ATL and crashed in Yaya's comfortable beds.

Lake of the Ozarks - Take 2

Four years ago my parents, brother, sisters, sister in law and brothers in law (and Michael and Elliot and I) spent a week in the Ozarks at a cabin by the lake. This summer we did it again with one extra kid. You see Elsie here, a little apprehensive with Aunt Andri. Elliot loved the boat ride on the rented pontoon.
My dad created a scavenger hunt and hung clues on his front door 4 mornings in a row while we stayed on the lake. You see here the crowd's anticipation of the clue for the day.

Zoo train

The zoo train is a central (and twenty dollar) part of any trip to the STL zoo. Though you can't see much at ALL from the train while riding it, you get to go through 5 stations, 2 tunnels and a construction site. If you're lucky (like my kids were) the conductor will even let you say 'all aboard' into the loudspeaker.

July 2010

So we've been traveling quite a bit. Some people do travel blogs of Europe, South American, Tahiti. We're doing one of our 2 weeks in the Midwest. It's not glamourous, but we had a great time and saw lots of friends.
Here you see Bug fueling up at Yaya's house before we took off for St. Louis. Once we got there, one of the things we did was visit the famous St. Louis zoo. The best thing about the zoo? It's free! And the animals are pretty great, too. You see Elsie borrowing some space from Annie on a stroller that was later occupied by Annie's big brother Jack, Annie, Elsie AND Elliot. We saw elephants and giraffes, zebras and my favorite, the Somali Wild Ass.

Theological wonderings

On the way home from church today:

Elliot: Mama, why do some people go to hell?
Michael: Because of their sin, buddy.
Elliot: What's hell? I don't want to go there.
Elsie: Hell. Hell. Hell.

Wedding in Paradise

So we're back in Savannah. And I have to say, as far as cities go, it's not a bad city to come back to.
Jamaica was, well, unreal. You can see some pictures here of the wedding and reception. It was really beautiful, like something out of a movie. Jessica looked like she had walked out of a magazine and overall it was a fabulous day. You will notice that it was a little hot - that's why we're all glistening in the pictures.
At one point during the dancing at the reception, I went inside and changed into a swim suit, jumped in the pool, and got back onto the dance floor. Where else can you do that but Jamaica?
