More Elliot

I walked out into the dining room this morning at 6:45am to find Elliot doing his homework.  ??

"I'm doing it now so that I don't feel rushed when I do it tonight, mama.  Could you give me a practice spelling test in a minute?"

This kid.

Recent quotes from Elliot

During our family prayer time, we were explaining to Elliot that we needed to pray for our president, and all people in leadership.  "So let's pray for Barak Obama," I said.

"How about Ron Paul?" he says.

Michael and I just looked at each other.  What does this kid know about Ron Paul?

Several months ago Elliot told us, "Mama, I don't like Obama."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"He likes change.  And I don't like change."
Surely this child is Jack reincarnated.

Halloween 2012

Nine children.  Three moms.  Two dads.  We literally stopped traffic.  It was a good time.

Elsie had strep throat

and so she got to pick out some popsicles.  The rainbows made everyone happy.

Soccer season

It started last Saturday - the games.  We had a couple of weeks of practice first.  Elsie is ridiculously cute in her uniform.  But not so cute when she pouts, turns the other way, ignores the ball the falls at her feet, and cries. And cries.  Did I mention the crying?   We're hoping it gets better next week.

It's that time of year

Mixing the brew

Mysterious alchemy of the juice
SCAD students are coming to Savannah in droves.  So of course, Michael is making homemade snow cone syrup.  Yes, he told me, I know you can buy it at Walmart.  But it's not as good.  Tuesday is official give out the snow cones day.  My children are ecstatic.  Unknowing freshman will be given free snow cones as they walk by, and if they ask, will learn that there is an RUF on their campus, and if they want, will get a free ride to our first large group meeting.

But if you're 7 or 5, it's just 'give out the snow cones day'.  And it's one of the best days ever.
The blue raspberry is just pretty

First day of school 2012

Big 2nd grader

Big Kindergartener
Finally Elliot and Elsie are at the same school! Heard Elementary started this morning at 9am.  I don't get to pick them up until 3:45 which will seem like 4 days from now.
Who still has some sass.

Elsie was not happy with me leaving and was trying to get me to hug her.

Until she figured out that Ava, her new friend, also loves pink as a favorite color.

Elliot was ready for us to leave long before we were.  We hovered.  For real.
